Chapter 17.4 – September 2023 – House warming party

 

Amena knew where her priorities lay immediately when she woke up this morning... Last months rain had left behind a fog so dense you could hardly see anything, but yet there is still a light shining in the distance...

 

Though her therapist had adviced her against doing so, she still felt she had to sit down and 'take a breather' for a while, before she could get up to do her daily tasks and get to work..

 

In the neighbouring house Ingrid was also up already eating breakfast.. still right next to that smelly juice pack on the counter..
Both of them have a mission in life – to make the world a better place – though their methods may prove to be a little.. different. Ingrids way would be to use politics to add more good to the world. Amenas way would be to eliminate the bad...

 

After having breakfast Ingrid finally came to her senses and decided to clean up the juice pack after walking out the front door to stand and look at her house from outside for some reason.. It was such a nice, big house.. perfect for someone of her standing...

George was awake in his bed to read yet another book before going to school...

The worlds he found in the books was much more fascinating then the sometimes grey and dull real world.. he was much to caught up in them to even join Amena for breakfast..

 

Once he was out the door and on the school bus and Amena had finished eating it was time for her to put on her uniform and go as well.. There was a bit of pressure on her shoulders now to be able to pay for the loan and provide for herself and George, so she really hoped to get a promotion at work.. it had been to long since last time..

 

Next door Ingrid had gotten lost in an alternative world too as she was in one of her rooms upstairs watching tv, before she suddenly realized she had lost track of time and was late for work!

 

Ingrids mother Kathrine wasn't going to work however, as she was on pregnancy leave for being.. very pregnant. Her due date was set to mid October, so.. I want to follow her for a while to see what she's up to while everyone else is at work or school..

 

She drives her car Amundsen Cartoons and co., Sunset Valleys local nerd hangout. The nerd hangout occupies the first and second floor, with the second floor also having some arcade machines. The third and fourth floor is reserved for a law firm. Kathrine is followed by Ranveigs sister Monica who apparently must have her day off...

Kathrine walks inside to find Mikael Bastiansen to talk about how proud she is of her oldest daughter and her political career..

Georges class was having an excursion today to the police station, so he gets to visit his aunt at work! His teacher is Mikaels wife, Holly Bastiansen. His classmates are Morten Kråke-Karlsen, Ingrids younger brother, Anton Motor-Karlsen in the green shirt to the right, and Leni Wennevold closest to the school bus.

 

At the cartoon store Kathrine and Monica decide to go upstairs after Narcissa Vatos appears and begins to inappropriately flirt with Mikael..

 

Monica notices Kathrines big belly and wants to touch it. She is indeed very pregnant. ;)

Kathrine then reveals to Monica that she is pregnant, as if that wasn't obvious.. Kathrines belly is a lot bigger than Sofias belly (living in Bewickton), and Kathrine having given birth twice already, is a lot less neurotic about her pregnancy too..

Then being the nerds I can only assume they are, Monica challenges Kathrine with a long series of trivia questions, to which Kathrine answers each and every question correctly.. to Monicas dismay. ;)

 

Over at the police station the kids excursion was now finished. George really enjoyed it, and found actually getting to see his aunts work place and not just hearing about it, to be very enjoyable.. well, minus the jail food they were served.. that was.. disgusting!

 

When Amena finished her shift, she was a little bummed she didn't get the promotion she hoped for, but her hard work had paid off still, as she was rewarded with a raise. No reason to rest on her laurels now, she thought. No, she was well on her way now, and she wasn't gonna stop anytime soon..

 

Amena was very happy and proud over George, as he showed her all his medals from the boy scouts and also told her that he had just gotten the best grade possible at school. "I didn't even need to do my homework to get it" he said "school is just much to easy..."

Then for Amena there was only one logical thing to do.. invite her friends over to a house warming party, of course!

 

It doesn't take long for people to arrive. Ingrids aunt Helene is quick on the spot, followed by Inge Reppe, Monica Motor-Notesen and VJ Alvi. It's interesting to note that Amena is good friends with VJ, in spite of him being a criminal.. Earlier I have speculated that it might be because she wants to change his ways somehow, indicating she has a soft spot and isn't all about punishing the bad guys.. either that, or he's just a master manipulator or something.. :P

 

Once she has placed the food on the small table in the corner, Helene immediately walks over to Amena to brag about her expensive belongings.. but unlike almost everyone else that would disapprove of such poorly camouflaged bragging, Amena actually appears to be entertained by Helenes need to flaunt the price tag on everything she owns..

 

There won't be a shortage of food here, as Amena made sure to order a pizza before everyone arrived.. and since she doesn't have a stereo in this home yet, and it wouldn't be a party without music, she decides to entertain everyone with some piano while waiting for the pizza delivery..
Marty Keaton in the back there, which also happens to be her love interest, appears a little undecided.. he's thinking that he is happy to see her.. but at the same time disapproves of her piano playing..

 

Helene thinks Amenas piano playing is just fine, and clearly disapproves of Martys disapproval of Amenas piano playing.. What a sourdough.. and besides, it's probably important to try to keep a friend that can actually put up with her bragging, so Helene is wise to enjoy it.. :P

 

The piano music must have done something to these two, Iliana Langerak and Erland Solllid, as they already started making out with each other. I'm not sure if they're a couple or if it's just for fun. :P

Then after a short moment of playing, the pizza arrived and it was time for everyone to eat.. more, because a lot of them were already eating. Definately not a shortage of food. :P

It was a nice and orderly party, people were well behaved (keeping them fed probably does that) as they sat around by the different tables to talk about housing, gardening, house plants and such things..

Then it was time to mingle some more and find someone to hand flowers to... Amena being the host of the party, was of course going to be on the receiving end on a few of those.. Erland Sollid was first out to give her flowers, which she happily received.

Then it was Leighton Jolina-Sekemotos turn to flirt with the host, while an argument seemed to occur between Iliana and Erland about something...

 

A little later it was more eating and Iliana and Erland had found back to each other again, so not to much drama there. :P

Marty Keaton laughs at Morten for some reason, before he decides to leave the party.

 

Morten is sitting down next to George and congratules him on the new home.

VJ takes a shot at giving flowers to Iliana right in front of Erland..

 

..but boos at her a little later when he sees her talking to Erland again..

 

More eating and friendly chatter by the dining table. Amena just recently became a local celebrity in town for her police work (and perhaps from playing piano in the evenings at the local pubs as an additional source of income). People have definately taken note of her..

George sits down to do his homework, and it would frequently get a little messy over by the dishwasher as everyone wanted to clean up their plates at the same time..

And of course, more piano entertainment while people were eating.. She probably shouldn't be hosting these parties to often, with all the food available here I can see most of Sunset Valley getting overweight after a while.. :P

After she was done with that, Leighton (who had watched her while playing) was at it again giving her flowers, while George was telling jokes and making friends with Helene.

 

VJ came back to use his charm on the police officer.. whatever lets him continue what he does without ending up in jail, I suppose..

 

I'm not sure what his mission is, but he's not looking very trustworthy as he moves on to give flowers to Helene as well..

Amena has her own thoughts about that. She can see through his games, but still has hopes of convincing him to not continue his criminal career before he does something stupid and she has no other choice but to put him in jail.. and there's Iselin being so proud of her daughter going to university, she does the university cheer repeatedly for hours on end..

VJ thanks Amena for inviting him to the party before he leaves to go to his.. 'work' and Amena thinks she'll spend the rest of the evening practicing chess. Helene is then seen giving flowers to Leighton which makes her unpopular among a lot of the guests..

Especially her son Bjørn-Yngve does not like what his mom is doing..

 

That didn't stop Helene though, as she continues to repeat the 'offense', and Arlo Bunch also has some flowers to give to Amena.. Plenty of flowers are exchanged all over the place, and it is a little chaotic. ;)

Yeah.. because shortly thereafter Arlo receives flowers from Iliana.. right under Amenas nose, so..

Amena then tries to talk fondly about her new house to Arlo, which makes them discover that they have incompatible traits, so this probably isn't going anywhere..

George doesn't want to be a part of the adults weird world and has sat down to read his books again.

Some more flirting and exchange of flowers occurs between Amena and Erland before Amena and Helene sit down to play a game of chess. People flock around them to watch as the game goes past the opening stage and gets a little more exciting..

 

Iselin Reppe is still there all by herself cheering for the university mascot...

 

George thinks it's time to go to bed and asks Erland to read him a bedtime story..

 

..but Erland completely misunderstands and starts a pillow fight with Leighton in his room instead..

"Umm.. this isn't what I wanted you to do.. can you stop that and get out of here then, so I can atleast go to bed..." George said as he scratched his head at the adults strange behaviour..

 

Leighton seems to get it and leaves the room, but Erland instead goes to read a story for himself on Georges bed..

    "That's just rude" George said "Get out of my bed and out of my room! I'm going to sleep now!"

 

George shooed Erland out of the room, but just as he did so Iselin had finally stopped her slogan cheering.. only to enter his room and do the excact same thing as Erland just did!

 

"No way!" George was definately getting tired of this by now.."Get out of my room and leave my books alone! I'm going to sleep now!"

 

Adults... no respect for what is mine and that I have to go to sleep.. I hope my aunt won't be throwing these parties to often...

 

In spite of some odd behaviour from some of the guests, Amena was definately pleased with the event though, and the new house.. and atleast the guests had respected her enough to let her go to sleep alone and in peace..

George wasn't so lucky, as once more Erland went back to his room while he was sleeping to have another pillow fight with Monica.. George was still able to sleep through it though without waking up..

 

Downstairs Helene was still practicing chess while Iliana was now giving flowers to Arlo, all of them refusing to leave the party, so... but with both of the house residents asleep I think I'll just end it here and say...
